did you know that the story of the pied piper is kind of a nightmare?  as in, he doesn’t get paid for killing all the rats in town, so he lures all the chillins up to the mountain and then the mountain SNAPS SHUT and the piper and the kids and the flute are never seen again.  my mind has been rocked by this elementary book of writing prompts. of course i’m going to make them learn about this story today and OF COURSE we’re going to waste 10 minutes of our lives, 10 minutes we’ll never get back, making straw flutes.  i just tried to make one, embarrassingly, at my desk and i’m not sure the noise is correct or even decent/appropriate.  but it’s still going to happen.
